Juventus had been in advanced negotiations for the 16-year-old, who won’t turn 17 until March, but the Ligue 1 champions suddenly surpassed them in the running.
According to Sportitalia, Mediaset Premium and Sky Sport Italia, Monaco have practically clinched a deal for Pellegri.
They are ready to pay €20-22m plus performance-related bonuses and include 10 per cent of any future sell-on fee.
Multiple sources even suggest Pellegri could have a medical as early as tomorrow, signing a five-year contract worth €1m per season.
Considering Monaco have a tendency to help develop very young players and sell them on at a huge profit, that could mean a real windfall for Genoa.
He is the replacement for Guido Carrillo, who was sold to Southampton this week for €22m.
Juventus seemingly pulled out of contention when it turned into a bidding war and refused to participate.
Pellegri has played eight Serie A games in his senior career, scoring three goals.
