Torino have made a double bid for Napoli players Alex Meret and Andrea Petagna, according to reports in Italy.
Meret has been second-choice to Davide Ospina in recent seasons but may have the opportunity to take the No. 1 spot following the Colombia international’s likely exit.
And CalcioNapoli24 report Torino have made an offer of €9 million plus bonuses.
The report adds that Meret has been offered a contract extension to 2027 by Napoli but wants to sit down with manager Luciano Spalletti and director Cristiano Giuntoli before deciding on whether to put pen-to-paper.
He has made 92 appearances over four years with Napoli but played just six times in Serie A last season.
Meret was a member of Italy’s Euro 2020-winning squad but was the only member of the group not to make a single appearance.
Meanwhile, the report adds Torino have also made a loan offer with the obligation to buy for Petagna.
Torino director Davide Vagnati was previously at SPAL where both Meret and Petagna spent time.
In my view, Napoli should ditch Meret and keep Petagna. Petagna is solid, if not spectacular, but Meret is just incompetent.
