Roma are reportedly on the verge of sealing a deal for Milan forward Stephan El Shaarawy.

The Italian international has spent the first half of the season at Monaco, but the principality side have decided not to buy him outright, and therefore can’t play him or they’ll be obligated to make the move permanent.

His parent club have ruled out a return, which means the Rossoneri are looking for another destination for the winger, and Sky reports that a deal with Roma is very close.

The Giallorossi are reportedly very close to agreeing a contract with the player, at which point Milan would begin the formal process of bringing the player back from Ligue 1.

El Shaarawy would then go on loan to Roma for the rest of the season, with the Lupi having the obligation of making the deal permanent in the summer.

Sky believes that the deal could be closed as soon as today, as talks are advancing very quickly.

The 23-year-old scored 19 goals for Milan in the 2012-13 season, but has struggled with injury since, scoring just seven goals in three subsequent campaigns.
