Napoli have reportedly offered €20m for Atletico Madrid full-back Sime Vrsaljko.

The Partenopei have lost Faouzi Ghoulam to a long-term injury, and are keen to strengthen in defence.

They have been linked with the Croatian international for some time, and Gazzetta dello Sport reports they’re in constant contact with his agent Giuseppe Riso.

The agent is in turn negotiating with the Spanish club, and it’s thought Napoli made an offer of €20m, paid in instalments.

While this is €5m less than the asking price, it could be enough to beat off competition from Juventus and Roma, as they’re only offering a loan with no obligation to buy.

As things stand only the Partenopei have made a concrete offer, so it’s therefore likely that Vrsaljko will be their first signing of the January transfer window.
