Reports in France suggest that Lazio have beaten Napoli to agree personal terms with Toma Basic, but Girondins de Bordeaux are considering the €8.5m offer.

The 24-year-old Croatia international midfielder is only under contract with Bordeaux until June 2022, so could leave as a free agent next summer.

According to Footmercato, although Napoli had seemed to be in the lead, it is Lazio who agreed personal terms with the player.

Now they are waiting for Bordeaux to give their verdict on an offer worth €8.5m, including performance-related bonuses and add-ons.

He was requested specifically by new Lazio coach Maurizio Sarri.

It is a tense time for Bordeaux, who are in the middle of a takeover process by new patron Gerard Lopez.

Basic joined Girondins from Hajduk Split in 2018 for €3.5m.

He made 34 Ligue 1 appearances this season, scoring four goals and setting up one.
