Erik Lamela is in confirmed talks with Inter, but it’s reported the €20m move will only go through if Ivan Perisic stays at Wolfsburg.

The Tottenham Hotspur forward’s father announced to La Gazzetta dello Sport today: “I can confirm the rumours are true and the interest for Erik is real. We are waiting for more developments over the next few days.

“We would like a return to Italy and are open to negotiations. It’s true that he gave his best in Italy and that is probably more suited to his characteristics.

“Erik was very happy in Serie A and had two great years with Roma. We would like a return to Serie A and we appreciate the Inter option.”

According to Sky Sport Italia, the deal is already agreed with all concerned, resulting in a loan for €6m with mandatory option to buy at the end of the season for another €14m (total £14.6m).

Spurs paid Roma €30m for Lamela only two years ago.

However, Lamela is the alternative to first choice Perisic, who Wolfsburg are refusing to release.

Sky Sport Italia are also reporting that Milan called Lamela’s agent to enquire about his availability.
