Atletico Madrid have reportedly identified Roma left-back Aleksandar Kolarov as a possible replacement for Lucas Hernandez.

According to El Gol Digital, Atleti boss Diego Simeone has ‘set his sights’ on Kolarov for his ‘competitive nature’, while the Serbian has ‘already made two requests’ to the Madrid club.

They would be that he earns a salary ‘similar’ to the €2m he currently earns at Roma and ‘above all’ that he is given a ‘leading role’ in the team.

The website notes it is ‘very difficult’ for the 33-year-old leave the Olimpico next month, but he could move on in the summer if he does not sign a new contract.

Kolarov joined Roma from Manchester City last year and has gone on to make 69 appearances for the Giallorossi.

Hernandez, for his part, is reportedly set to leave Atleti for Bayern Munich, who seem prepared to activate his €85m release clause.
