Sportitalia claim that the FIGC prosecutor has appealed to revoke May’s verdict clearing Juventus and all the other clubs of artificially inflating transfer fees for capital gains, but not Napoli.

It would be a massive development if successful, as it reopens the entire investigation and trial into several teams who had previously been cleared.

There were in all 59 directors accused of inflating the so-called Plusvalenze at 11 different clubs, including Juventus, Napoli, Sampdoria, Genoa, Empoli, Parma, Pisa and more.

This is a direct result of the new evidence uncovered by the investigation from the Turin public prosecutor, including many wiretapped conversations and confiscated documents.

However, according to Sportitalia, Napoli are not going to have their verdict appealed because the new evidence is solely about clubs who did deals with Juventus.

They are Empoli, Pescara, Pisa, Parma, genoa, Pro Vercelli, Sampdoria and Novara.

Initially, the FIGC prosecutor’s accusation of artificially inflated transfer fees to boost capital gains was rejected outright for all clubs, because it was fundamentally impossible to prove just how much a player is worth.

The judge ruled that the only real way of deciding value is the figure two clubs agree to.

That could now be back under the spotlight if the wiretaps can show Juventus, and consequently the other clubs involved in these deals too, knew full well they were inflating the real values of the players.

According to the magistrates in the latest investigation, Juventus over-estimated transfer fees to the tune of €155m between 2018-19 and 2020-21.

The consequences could be dire indeed, including points penalties or even demotion to Serie B.
