Edy Reja has warned Lazio they need to put in “a very different performance” from the one against Bologna if they are to conquer Catania.

The Biancocelesti kept hold of third place despite their 3-1 home defeat last week, which saw Francelino Matuzalem and Alejandro Gonzalez sent off.

“Considering what Catania are doing on home turf, it will need a very different performance from the one we saw against Bologna,” said the Coach.

“Lazio must keep a high tempo and play with intensity to get a result against the revelation team of the season. Obviously we must not fear any opponent, as if that were the case then we’d be going nowhere.

“I like the way Vincenzo Montella fields his side. He is a smart Coach and also determined in his choices. He’s the youngest tactician in Serie A, yet already seems like a veteran.”

The Biancocelesti are still in the third and final Champions League qualifying spot, but face pressure from Udinese, Napoli, Inter, Roma and even Catania.

“Many of us aspire to this objective, so to maintain this position we need victories. We’re confident in our abilities, but know there are also very talented teams pushing hard. I think Napoli are the toughest contenders, although now that Udinese are out of the Europa League they too can focus primarily on Serie A.”
