Edy Reja warns he “will not accept this pessimism” around Lazio and reveals his side wanted to sign Alessandro Matri in January.

The Biancocelesti have slipped down the standings after some results that are closer to what was originally expected of them.

“I don't understand why all these rifles are aimed at my Lazio. Since the halfway stage of the season we have picked up as many points as Milan and one less than Napoli,” said the Coach.

The Biancocelesti have slipped down the standings after some results that are closer to what was originally expected of them.

“I don't understand why all these rifles are aimed at my Lazio. Since the halfway stage of the season we have picked up as many points as Milan and one less than Napoli,” said the Coach.

“It's true we're not in our best shape, but the results have always come. I do not share and certainly do not accept this pessimism around my team.

“We've been dealing with injuries and against Brescia tomorrow I only have four defenders available. I'm glad that in an emergency situation our character emerges, so I'm sure we'll have a great game.”

Stefano Mauri has also pulled out after picking up a muscular problem on international duty with Italy.

“Libor Kozak is in good shape and wants to play against his former club. Hernanes will definitely play and I thought his red card for Brazil against France was harsh.”

Reja revealed that Lazio had tried to strengthen their squad during the January transfer window, but were beaten to the punch by Juventus.

“We had already spoken to Matri in the summer, but we didn't manage to reach an agreement. If there is the possibility of getting a striker like that, then I'm sure the President would be willing to make a financial sacrifice for him.”
