Edy Reja blamed “a clear penalty” not awarded to Lazio for their controversial defeat to Juventus this evening.

It was still goalless when Giorgio Chiellini appeared to mis-time his tackle on Sergio Floccari during a scoring opportunity.

Instead the referee waved play on and the Biancocelesti fell to a Simone Pepe goal after Cristian Ledesma's dismissal.

“I don't know what to say, but unfortunately it's not the first time this has happened to us,” said a visibly irritated Reja.

“Apparently recriminating gets you nowhere. It was a clear penalty on Floccari and I don't know what it could've done for the game, but seeing incidents in other matches there were spot-kicks awarded for a lot less.

“I'm not saying it because it is my player. I am just being honest, you can see the footage quite clearly.”

The Biancocelesti overall dominated possession, but it was Juve who got the goal at the 87th minute.

“Juve leave you a few gaps on the flanks while they are very strong in the middle of the park. We put them under pressure with Stephan Lichtsteiner, Javier Garrido and also Mauro Zarate's movement, but were unlucky.

“Unfortunately this is how things are going for us at the moment. Away to Inter last week Giuseppe Biava slipped for the Samuel Eto'o goal, while tonight Pepe's shot was going straight at Nando Muslera before the deflection.”

Now Lazio have only a one-point lead over Udinese – their next opponents – and Roma, with Juventus four behind.

“It is certainly decisive on Sunday against Udinese, but all things considered we're in good shape and after that game will have a better idea of what we can achieve,” concluded Reja.
