Pepe Reina called the 1-1 draw away to Fiorentina “a point earned” for Napoli and they’ll “stay in the Scudetto race.”

Gonzalo Higuain ended his three-week goal drought by replying to an early Marcos Alonso header at the Stadio Franchi.

“It’s a point earned, because Fiorentina play on our level when they are at home. Winning here is a huge achievement, so the important thing tonight was to bring something back to Naples and stay in the hunt,” the goalkeeper told Sky Sport Italia.

This leaves Napoli three points off Serie A leaders Juventus.

“Without doubt we will be in the race to the end. We know it’s tough because Juve are a great side, while Fiorentina and Roma are challenging for second.

“We have to stay confident because the team has been playing very well, we’ve had the right performances, so we are on the right track.

“It takes a bit of luck in football and that’s the joy of it. Sometimes you play badly and win, others you do really well the way we did over the last four or five games and don’t win.

“Higuain worked really hard, scored a goal, harassed the opposition defence constantly to find space. He is a fundamental player for us.”
