Pepe Reina “believes blindly in this team and its potential” after Napoli drew 0-0 in the Champions League with Dynamo Kiev.

The Partenopei are still top of Group B thanks to a superior head-to-head record with Benfica and will qualify as long as they avoid defeat in Lisbon.

“The fans were right to jeer at the end, as they want to win as much as we do, but they mustn’t forget that today the important thing was to avoid defeat so we’d stay top of the group,” the goalkeeper told Mediaset Premium.

Besiktas fought back from 3-0 down to hold Benfica 3-3 in the other game, which ended just before Napoli kicked off at the San Paolo.

If Benfica had won that match, then a Napoli victory this evening would’ve secured their spot in the Round of 16.

“We were affected by the result in Istanbul, because at that point we realised that a win or a draw tonight wouldn’t make any difference.

“We are growing, there’s a long road ahead of us. I believe blindly in this team and its potential. At the end of the season we’ll see if we did better or worse than last year.

“There are no bad teams in the Champions League. In our group there are three sides who won their domestic titles.”
