Paris Saint-Germain President Nasser Al-Khelaifi felt his side dropped two points against Napoli on Tuesday ‘because of two refereeing errors’.

Napoli’s penalty came about despite Jose Maria Callejon being in an offside position, while Nikola Maksimovic appeared to foul Juan Bernat in the box, prompting Al-Khelaifi to call for VAR in the Champions League.

“We came to Naples to win, but unfortunately it didn’t go as we expected,” Al-Khelaifi said after the 1-1 draw.

“The result isn’t to be disregarded, however. We already knew that they were strong and qualification rests with us again: we simply have to win our next two games.

“We’re disappointed because two refereeing errors cost us two points. As for Napoli’s penalty, I think there was an offside beforehand while we weren’t assigned one for Maksimovic’s foul on Bernat.

“The truth is that VAR is missing in the Champions League.”
