Referee Antonio Rapuano has been selected to officiate the upcoming Supercoppa Italiana final between Napoli and Inter in Riyadh on Monday evening.

Rapuano will be joined by assistant referees Valerio Colarossi and Alessio Tolfo, with Marco Di Bello on fourth official duty. Aleandro Di Paolo will be in control of the VAR room on Monday evening, assisted by Gianluca Aureliano.

Rapuano’s appointment is a good omen for the neutral, as 24 goals have been scored in across the previous six matches he has refereed involving Napoli and Inter. That equates to an average of four goals per game.

Napoli have won three of the last four matches where Rapuano has taken charge, including 6-1 and 4-0 victories over Sassuolo in 2021-22 and 2022-23, and the 2-0 victory over Salernitana in November. Rapuano was also in charge for Napoli’s 4-0 loss to Milan at the back end of the title-winning 2022-23 campaign.

Inter have come across Rapuano twice previously, including a 1-0 loss to Empoli last season and last weekend’s 5-1 away victory over Monza.

The Supercoppa Italiana final is scheduled to kick off at 19.00 GMT on Monday evening.
