“Genoa did well not to give up, we knew it was going to be difficult, but we let ourselves get surprised on the corner, otherwise we would’ve taken the win home,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.
“This was I think Romero’s fourth goal of the season from set plays. Schick was marking him, but he managed to get away and head in at the last second. It’s a pity, because the three points would’ve been very useful, but we’ll keep going.
“We were well aware Genoa would put up a brick wall, try to go on the counter and make the most of set plays. Unfortunately, they succeeded, but fortunately Mirante managed to save the penalty.”
Roma now fall three points behind fourth-placed Atalanta and are four points adrift of Inter in third.
They could also be caught on 59 points by Milan if the Rossoneri beat Bologna on Monday evening.
