Claudio Ranieri admits it was ‘impossible’ to turn down Roma as Francesco Totti feels the club have landed ‘one of the most experienced Coaches in football’.

Ranieri is back at Roma until the end of the season, having been born and raised in the capital, as well as briefly playing for the Lupi in the early 1970s and coaching them between 2009 and 2011.

Claudio Ranieri admits it was ‘impossible’ to turn down Roma as Francesco Totti feels the club have landed ‘one of the most experienced Coaches in football’.

Ranieri is back at Roma until the end of the season, having been born and raised in the capital, as well as briefly playing for the Lupi in the early 1970s and coaching them between 2009 and 2011.

“I’m delighted to be coming back home. When Roma call you, it’s impossible to say no,” the former Napoli, Juventus and Inter boss told the Giallorossi’s official website.

Totti, who played under the 67-year-old at the Olimpico, added: “Claudio’s from the city, he’s a Roma fan but more than that, he’s one of the most experienced Coaches in world football.

“What we need now is a safe pair of hands to guide us back into the top four and ensure that we are playing Champions League football again next season.

“We have 12 games left and we need to win as many of them as possible.”
