There had been reports in Spain and Italy over the last few days of negotiations between the clubs for a Rakitic-Bernardeschi exchange deal.

However, it had been assumed the cash sum would be relatively small, perhaps even in favour of Barcelona.

Instead, Di Marzio maintains Barcelona proposed Rakitic plus €10m cash to take Bernardeschi to Camp Nou, but Juventus turned it down.

It’s reported the Bianconeri wanted at least €20m plus Rakitic to release Italy international Bernardeschi, even though he has fallen far down the pecking order in Maurizio Sarri’s team.
