Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri is short of options in midfield against Atalanta but hopes Weston McKennie will be available, while Arek Milik is expected to replace the injured Dusan Vlahovic.

Juventus trained at Continassa this morning and USMNT international McKennie partially worked on the pitch with his teammates, Football Italia understands. Allegri hopes the American midfielder will be available on Sunday when the Bianconeri host Atalanta at the Allianz Stadium.

Even if McKennie recovers, he won’t be fully fit as he dislocated his shoulder less than two weeks ago in a home game against Frosinone.

Therefore, Allegri will have limited options in the middle of the park, as both Carlos Alcaraz and Adrien Rabiot are injured and won’t be available next weekend.

This means Hans Nicolussi Caviglia, Andrea Cambiaso or Danilo will start in central midfield alongside Manuel Locatelli and Fabio Miretti if McKennie isn’t fit to start.

The other Juventus problem is in attack as their best scorer, Vlahovic, is suspended.

The Serbia international will serve a one-match ban against La Dea and will likely be replaced by Milik, but the Pole hasn’t scored in Serie A in five months. Moise Kean is expected to return to the Juventus squad for the first time since December, having recovered from a shin injury.
