“Our injury situation is in progress: I’ll have another run-through tomorrow before taking stock of our injures with Dr. Baldari.
“I hope to have Ekdal and Vieira back, otherwise Praet will play. I also expect Caprari and Barreto [to return]. We need everyone.
“I plan to play the best XI for this game, so they can be competitive both physically and mentally.
“Defrel is a player I really like. We signed him because of his characteristics and because we knew he would integrate into our system in the best way.
“He’s a good player, but he needs consistency like Gabbiadini.”
Quagliarella, meanwhile, became Italy’s oldest-ever goalscorer during the international break with his brace against Liechtensteiner.
