Sampdoria striker Fabio Quagliarella says he wants to reach 100 goals and discusses his Azzurri prospects: 'I haven't given up on that dream'.

The 33-year-old currently counts 95 goals in Serie A over his career, and is hoping to close that record on a three digit figure this year.

“I love watching other people's goals in TV,” he told La Gazzetta dello Sport. “On Sunday evening I watch them all, from the goals of my old team Juve Stabia, to those in the various international tournaments.

“My jaw often drops. I can see the play from a variety of angles and I see how much quality there is. There's a goal I never scored, which I fear I never will. I'm filled with admiration when I see someone starting from the midfield and dribbling two or three opponents before scoring. Me, I can dribble one at the most.

“Scoring 100 goals would be an immense satisfaction, but I have no pressure in that direction. It would be great to achieve it before the end of the tournament because it would really help Sampdoria to save themselves from relegation. It would look good on my stats too.

“The celebrity I'd like to meet? Diego Armando Maradona.”

Quagliarella was clocked running at 33.3km/hr against Inter.

“I feel younger than my 33 years, perhaps because I didn't play much at Juventus and I didn't wear myself out.

“I've always been driven to be the best. With Torino I scored 17 goals between the Coppa and the championship.

“At Juventus I played as much as I deserved to play, because they had some real champions.

“[Antonio] Conte is the Coach that I worked with for the longest period. He knows my skills and my weaknesses.

“I haven't given up on my Azzurri dream, but it all depends on what I can do with Sampdoria.”
