The French giants are the new financial force in European football and have already snapped up stars like Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Thiago Silva and Ezequiel Lavezzi.
According to Sky Sport Italia, the Qatari investor made the comment to journalists while he was in Montecarlo for the Golden Foot ceremony this evening.
“It’s true, we like De Rossi. He is certainly a great player, but we don’t negotiate through the media.”
De Rossi is thought to be considering a departure from Roma after he was dropped for the 2-0 win over Atalanta, reportedly due to a row with Coach Zdenek Zeman.
The midfielder responded by scoring two goals in as many games for Italy.
