Gianluigi Donnarumma has been benched for Paris Saint-Germain’s Ligue 1 clash against Bordeaux, only days after his poor performance against Real Madrid.

The 23-year-old Italian shot stopper has featured inconsistently in the league this campaign, sharing his starting spot with former Los Blancos man Keylor Navas. He played the full 90 minutes of the 3-1 loss to Real Madrid earlier this week, gifting them an equalising goal after being caught out with the ball at his feet.

PSG coach Mauricio Pochettino has decided not to start Donnarumma in the French side’s Ligue 1 match against Bordeaux this afternoon, leaving him on the bench and starting Navas in his place.

The former Milan shot stopper has been heavily criticised by fans and pundits alike over the last few days, so it’s hardly a surprise that he’ll be rested for the match, giving him time to bounce back after a tough week.

Donnarumma has kept eight clean sheets and conceded 14 goals in 18 appearances across all competitions this season.
