Prosecutors are investigating Patrice Evra after the former Juventus defender allegedly aimed homophobic slurs at Paris Saint-Germain.

A video went viral earlier in the month of Evra taunting Paris Saint-Germain after their Champions League exit to Manchester United.

The 37-year-old was heard saying the word ‘pede’, which has anti-gay connotations, prompting gay rights groups to press charges and the Paris prosecutor’s office to open an investigation.

According to the Sun, the Frenchman faces up to a year behind bars and a €40,000 fine if he is found guilty of homophobic offences.
