Olivier Giroud is set to make his Milan debut against Sampdoria this evening, with Mikkel Damsgaard, Manolo Gabbiadini and Fabio Quagliarella expected to start for the Blucerchiati.

The game kicks off at 19.45 UK time at the Stadio Marassi.

With Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Franck Kessié injured, Stefano Pioli is likely to start Sandro Tonali in the middle of the park and Olivier Giroud up front.

The former Chelsea man joined the Rossoneri for €1m in July and scored three goals during the pre-season.

Another former Blues, Fikayo Tomori, is expected to start in place of Alessio Romagnoli, so Simon Kjaer should wear the captain armband this evening.

Mike Maignan will also play his first official game in a Rossoneri shirt after signing with the Diavoli in a €15m deal from Nice in the summer.

Denmark starlet Mikkel Damsgaard will start as a left winger in Sampdoria’s 4-2-3-1 formation with Gabbiadini, Antonio Candreva and Fabio Quagliarella.

Probable line-ups

Sampdoria: Audero, Augello, Colley, Yoshida, Bereszynski; Ekdal, Thorsby; Damsagaard, Gabbiadini, Candreva; Quagliarella.

Milan: Maignan, Calabria, Kjaer, Tomori, Hernandez; Tonali, Bennacer; Saelemaekers, Diaz, Leao; Giroud.
