Former Italy CT Cesare Prandelli insists “the Scudetto race is not over” despite Juventus pulling three points clear of Napoli.

The Bianconeri stretched their lead at the top of the table to three points in Week 27, as they defeated Inter while Maurizio Sarri’s men were held by Fiorentina.

“The Scudetto race is not over,” Prandelli said on Radio Crc.

“Napoli are in good shape, they’re only three points behind Juventus who will have important commitments, and if I were at Napoli I’d be thinking about maintaining concentration.

“I think Sarri will be telling the squad in training that there needs to be a strong reaction from Napoli.

“They’ve been strong and now they just have to work, then in four games we’ll see how the table looks.”

After a strong showing in Europe last season, Italian teams have struggled this term, with Lazio the sole representatives left in the Europa League and Roma and Juventus on the brink in the Champions League.

“Napoli and Fiorentina are out of Europe, but I want to underline that Tottenham, for example, are a strong team with an intense style of football and and a crucial level of physicality.

“In Italy there are a lot of pauses [in intensity], and technical players can get a grip of the match in that time, so the Italian teams have to work on intensity.

“That’s the only way to have fewer problems in Europe.”
