Genoa Coach Cesare Prandelli once again fumed at the refereeing after going down to 10 men in their 2-0 defeat to Sampdoria.

Gregoire Defrel opened the scoring in the third minute, but Prandelli claims there was a foul before the Frenchman tapped the ball in from close range.

“There is a clear foul on Cristian Romero. We lost the game on the first attack and nobody saw it. Still, the team was on the field and had the rest of the game to get back into it,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“We started off with a high line, as we wanted to try and risk something to be more attacking, but then Davide Biraschi’s red and the penalty put an end to that.”

Biraschi’s red card was the Grifone’s third in a row and was extremely harsh, as it came along with a penalty for preventing a clear scoring opportunity, even though they were barely inside the area.

“The red on Biraschi doesn’t exist, he is a metre and half away from his opponent, how can he move his arm out of the way? It isn’t a penalty for me and certainly not a red card. We were told that ‘double punishment’ no longer applied.”

The Rossoblu are just six points above the drop zone now and Prandelli claimed that he doesn’t watch the other teams surrounding his side in the standings.

“I don’t watch the others. My players must fight until the last minute. We can’t lose our minds, but it is clear we are missing a true striker.”

Krzysztof Piatek is still Genoa’s top goal scorer, finding the net 13 times before his move to Milan in January transfer window, and the Grifone have struggled in front of goal since.
