Italy Coach Cesare Prandelli has today praised Ciro Immobile, saying the forward can become the complete player.

The Borussia Dortmund man has not started either of the Azzurri’s two World Cup matches thus far and there have been calls for this to change for tomorrow’s decisive encounter with Uruguay.

“Immobile is a modern forward who knows how to attack the spaces,” Prandelli said at a Press conference ahead of the match in Natal.

“He can play between the lines, has an eye for goal in the penalty area and he helps the team.

“Today, to be a champion you have to have these characteristics. If you are missing one, you are not complete.

“He has everything needed to become a complete player.”

Prandelli was then asked whether he would consider pairing Immobile up front with Mario Balotelli tomorrow but was unwilling to reveal his plans.

“I have never said that they can’t play together. When you decide to play with two forwards, you need to change something.

“So often it’s not the number of forwards that makes the difference offensively, but the ability to be decisive.

“We have some thoughts but they are still not official. Until the last moment I want to keep everything on the line.”
