Italy Coach Cesare Prandelli insists he would have taken the Azzurri’s current World Cup situation when the draw was first made.

Prandelli’s team face Uruguay tomorrow afternoon in the knowledge that a draw will secure their place in the Last 16 of the tournament in Brazil.

While defeat in Natal would confirm their early elimination, the tactician believes the scenario could have been far worse in a difficult Group D.

“It’s a particularly difficult task, because it’s a match to decide whether we are in or out,” Prandelli told a Press conference.

“When the draw was made, we would all have accepted playing for qualification in the last match.

“To get a positive result you need to need to have the mentality to win. We are not set up to go on the pitch looking for a draw.

“I don’t want to see the team go out and suffer. If we have to suffer, we need to be good at counter-attacking immediately.”
