Italy boss Cesare Prandelli has insisted that his international doors are still open for Inter’s Antonio Cassano.

The latter hasn’t been selected by the tactician since appearing in the Euro 2012 Final against Spain, but Prandelli insists that his omission is not a definite exclusion.

“His story with the national side is not finished,” the CT noted. “At this moment in time I just think that it is right that I choose different players. Then we’ll see what happens in the future.”

Prandelli has looked to lower the average age of the side over the last few months and Milan man Stephan El Shaarawy is just one youngster who is breaking through.

“He’s been the biggest surprise,” the former Fiorentina boss continued. “At this minute, he is overcoming every obstacle.”

Prandelli was also asked for his thoughts on the Serie A race this term.

“It has been a compelling championship until this point,” he added. “The likes of Inter, Milan, Roma, Fiorentina, a lot of sides are challenging.

“Over these years Juventus have surprised with their consistency and character, but, as I said, there are a lot of well built teams.”
