Udinese owner Giampaolo Pozzo says he enjoyed a ‘deserved victory’ against Juventus on the opening day of the Serie A season.

The Zebrette pulled off the shock result of the round by defeating the Old Lady at Juventus Stadium, the first time the Bianconeri have ever lost at home in the first match of the season.

Pozzo was delighted by the result but criticised the media, who he expected to not give his side the credit they deserve.

“I’m expecting the usual judgments from the sports newspapers,” he said to Udinese Channel.

Pozzo was delighted by the result but criticised the media, who he expected to not give his side the credit they deserve.

“I’m expecting the usual judgments from the sports newspapers,” he said to Udinese Channel.

“They’ve given us a 4/10, but with lower marks in recent seasons we’ve even got to the Champions League.

“For me, the actions of the club were more than enough. It was a very happy night and a deserved victory.

“Now, as always, people will say that Juve aren’t the same team as they were last year and that it was a lucky victory.

“Not so. Juve gave it everything, they fought and attacked for a long time.

“We were tidy and organised, every player did his duty and we showed we have talent.

“I’m very satisfied. The team convinced me.”
