Napoli and Inter have reportedly agreed a fee for Matteo Politano, but the player would still prefer a move to Roma, claims Il Corriere dello Sport.

Politano’s move to the Giallorossi broke down last week due to issues surrounding Leonardo Spinazzola in the swap deal, with little to do with the Inter winger.

The 26-year-old was visibly distraught at the breakdown of his move to the capital, and hopes that a deal can still be agreed between the two clubs.

However the Rome daily states that Napoli have now jumped to the front of the queue for Politano, and are close to agreeing a €25m deal.

Yet at this stage it’s uncertain whether the former Sassuolo player will agree a move to Napoli.

Roma meanwhile are making contingency plans in case Politano does indeed join the Partenopei.

Il Corriere suggests that Roma are looking at Liverpool’s Xherdan Shaqiri, Adnan Januzaj of Real Sociedad and Milan’s Suso as alternatives.

To complicate matters still, Dan Friedkin close to taking over the Giallorossi from Jim Pallotta, and the soon-to-be new owner will have to sign off on any potential transfers.
