Juventus are now waiting for the next developments regarding their midfielder Paul Pogba and could decide to terminate his contract if he’s found guilty at a sporting trial.

Pogba tested positive in counter-analysis on a second sample after failing a first doping test on August 20.

The anti-doping commission has already suspended the French midfielder who is earning minimum wage in Turin, being prevented from training with the rest of the team.

Massimiliano Allegri said at a press conference on Friday that Juventus are waiting for the next developments, so what should we expect now?

Pogba and his lawyers can now prepare a defence in a sporting trial that will take place unless the French midfielder asks for a plea bargain. In any case, Pogba could be suspended for between two and four years.

Sky Sport Italia claims Juventus expected this outcome from counter-analysis as Pogba had previously shown club doctors a dietary supplement he had taken probably leading to a failed doping test on August 20. The player’s agent Rafaela Pimenta said last month that Pogba ‘never intended to break the rules.’

Once and if Pogba is officially banned, Juventus will decide on what to do, but according to Sky the most likely end to the story is a contract termination, given that Pogba’s current €7m-a-year deal in Turin expires in June 2026.
