Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba has tested positive for testosterone also in the counter-analysis undergone earlier this week: ‘I am sorry,’ said coach Massimiliano Allegri.

Multiple sources in Italy, including Sky Sport Italia, confirm Pogba has tested positive for testosterone also in the counter-analysis undergone on a second sample earlier this week.

“I didn’t know about the confirmation, I am sorry,” Juventus boss Allegri said at a press conference on the eve of Saturday’s Turin derby against Torino.

“We are waiting for what’s coming next, it’s useless to comment now. Humanly, I am sorry.”

Pogba had tested positive for testosterone after an away Serie A game against Udinese on August 20, which he had entirely spent on the bench.

The results of his failed doping test were revealed three weeks ago.

The 2018 France World Cup winner has been suspended by the anti-doping commission and is not training with the team.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reported in September that Pogba had taken medication during a pre-tournée in the USA  without alerting Juventus’ medical staff.

His €7m-a-year contract expires in June 2025, but Juventus could terminate the agreement if the French midfielder is found guilty in a sporting trial.
