Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba posted a video thanking fans for their messages after his knee operation and the extortion investigation into his brother. ‘Mentally, I am OK.’

The player had tried everything to avoid the surgery after a lesion to the meniscus in his knee during pre-season training.

In accordance with the Bianconeri, he attempted conservative therapy for a five-week spell, but eventually had to give up and accept an operation was the only course of action.

It remains to be seen how long he will be out for, but it’s hard to believe he’ll be fit in time to play for France in the World Cup.

Pogba released a video statement via Instagram, speaking in both French and Italian, to thank fans and made an oblique reference to the investigation into extortion attempts that include his brother Mathias.

“Hi all, hope you are all well. I’m fine, thank God, the operation went well, we will recover and come back very, very soon.

“I wanted to thank you all for your messages, for your support and to know that here mentally, all the worries despite the injury and the other problems, but mentally I’m OK.

“I am not alone, I am here with God. Anyway, big thank you to all for your messages, for your support, all the messages I’ve seen on social media.

“We’ll be back bigger soon, I hope. And I send a greeting, a hug, always smiling. We thank God, see you soon.”
