Juventus beat Fiorentina 1-0 on Sunday thanks to Fabio Miretti’s first Serie A goal: here are Football Italia’s player ratings from the Stadio Franchi in Florence.

Fiorentina

Terracciano 5.5 – Miretti was close, but his shot was not too powerful, so the Fiorentina keeper could have done more, as he did in the second half to avoid Juventus’ second goal with the second shot on target.

Parisi 5 – The ex-Empoli defender didn’t read Kostic’s movement in the build-up of Juventus’ goal.

Quarta 5 – Like Parisi, he was in the wrong position when Juventus scored. Too easy for Miretti to beat him and Terracciano.

Ranieri 6 – Didn’t have much defensive work to do in the first half, when he nearly scored from a corner kick. (89’ Mina N/A)

Biraghi 5.5 – Highs and lows down the left flank. He came close to scoring in the first half, but Szczesny saved his free-kick.

Arthur 6.5 – The ball was always in a safe place when he had it at his feet. The Brazilian was subbed off in a tactical substitution, with Italiano pushing for the equaliser. (78’ Ikone N/A)

Mandragora 5.5 – The ex-Juventus midfielder lacked quality when shooting or delivering the final pass.

Gonzalez 5.5 – His pace and quality make him a constant threat for any defence, but Rugani and Kostic did enough to nullify the Argentinean.

Barak 5 – Surprisingly started ahead of Bonaventura and Italiano’s choice didn’t pay off. (59’ Bonaventura 6)

Kouame 5 – Lively but not effective. (78’ Sottil N/A)

Beltran 5.5 – Didn’t find a way through in the first half and was subbed off during the break. (46’ Nzola 4.5)

Coach: Italiano 5 – Fiorentina played good football but didn’t have a plan B. They put countless crosses in but lost every duel inside the box.

Juventus

Szczesny 7.5 – Two superb saves in the first half. As important as a striker.

Gatti 6.5 – Solid performance, but he needed a few fouls to stop Fiorentina strikers, so he was booked in the second half.

Bremer 7 – Tidier than Gatti, the Brazilian was everywhere. One of the best centre-backs in Serie A this season.

Rugani 7 – Nico is never an easy opponent, but Rugani was simply perfect. The highlight of his performance came in the second half with a glancing header to avoid Ikone’s close-range header.

McKennie 6 – Returned to the right flank to replace the injured Weah. The American helped the team defensively but didn’t do much in the final third.

Miretti 7 – Scored his first Serie A goal with a late run inside Fiorentina’s box. He couldn’t have chosen a better game for his first-ever goal in the league. (61’ Cambiaso 6)

Locatelli 6.5 – Old-style regista. His primary duty was to protect Juventus’ three-man defence and he did it remarkably, putting in a lot of physicality.

Rabiot 6 – Received a yellow card in the first half. Helped the team defensively but needed more quality with the final pass.

Kostic 6.5 – Delivered the assist for Miretti’s opener and helped Rugani deal with Nico.

Kean 5.5 – He had no chances to score, mostly due to Juventus’ playing style, but could have done more in some counter-attacking actions. (68’ Vlahovic 5.5 – Received even more insults than Chiesa being the last player to have joined Juventus from Fiorentina. Like his teammate, he didn’t have a chance to hurt his former club.)

Chiesa 5 – It’s hard to judge the former Viola striker. He passively waited to receive the ball from defenders and it’s frankly the only thing he could do. (68’ Milik 6)

Coach: Allegri 6 – Another typical Allegri performance. Three shots on target, one goal. For now, it’s enough to win games.
