Fabio Miretti had been ‘waiting a long time for this moment’ and finally scored his first goal in the Juventus jersey, sealing victory away to Fiorentina.

This was an incredibly one-sided match with the Viola dominating possession and having 25 attempts on goal, but none of it mattered, because Miretti got the ball in the net after 10 minutes.

It was a huge moment for the Juve academy product, finding the net for his hometown club.

“I had been waiting a long time for this moment and it finally arrived. The most important thing was bringing home the three points today,” Miretti told DAZN.

“I hope that now more goals will come. What I am seeking is a certain consistency in my performances and that means goals too.”

Juventus legend Claudio Marchisio also scored his first goal for the club to seal a 1-0 victory against Fiorentina, so was this an omen?

“Claudio wrote several times to encourage me and I thank him. This coincidence also makes it seem a nicer moment.”

The Bianconeri are now in second place, only two points adrift of leaders Inter, but Max Allegri and his players continue to insist the Scudetto is not in their thoughts.

“We need to pick up as many points as possible to stay in the top four, then we’ll see where we are in May.”
