The Bosnian international has been linked with a possible move away from the Stadio Olimpico, with Barcelona and Tottenham paired.
However, speaking at the club’s pre-season training retreat on Thursday, the 23-year-old was clear about his intentions.
“I don’t want to leave and the club know that,” he stated. “Perhaps there was interest in me, but my objective has always been very clear.
“I want to stay here and I arrived at pre-season prepared to help the team and start the championship well.
“Saying that, you never know what can happen in the transfer market and I don’t know the financial situation of the club, but I want to stay and they are aware of my desire.”
Pjanic was signed from Lyon in 2011 and he’s keen to extend his contract which will currently expire in June 2015.
“A renewal will take time,” he added. “We are talking about it, there is a desire there and we’ll just have to see what happens.”
Pjanic has been used in a variety of roles in Serie A and he was asked to be the central midfield playmaker in yesterday’s 4-3-3 system 9-1 friendly win.
“I’ve spoken to the Coach and he wants a lot of technique in midfield. He wants us to control games,” he continued.
“I’ve played in a lot of roles for Roma and Bosnia, but I don’t know yet what system we will use. It will be easier for me if I am given a specific position, but we’ll have to see what occurs.
“There are a lot of us in midfield, those who are in the best shape will play and the Coach will find the right formula.”
He concluded: “I’m happy that Kevin Strootman has come in, he’s a great player. It is always a good thing to have great players in the squad.”
