Mario Alberto Santana says it took just one phone call from boss Fabio Liverani to convince him that joining Genoa would be the right move.

The Argentine landed in the port city this morning for his medical ahead of a transfer from Napoli.

“Liverani was very important for my arrival,” said the player who spent last season on loan with Torino.

“It took just a phone call from him,” he continued. “We spoke to each other about six weeks ago and here I am today.

“I had a decent season in Serie A last time out and it is my hope to do even better in 2013-14,” the wide player concluded.

The 31-year-old scored four goals in 27 Serie A games for Toro in the previous campaign.
