The former Olympique Lyonnais midfielder was one of several big summer signings, though Luis Enrique’s project has so far stuttered.

“We are growing,” he told the Gazzetta dello Sport. “The performances and results confirm it.

“What gives me even more confidence is seeing an increasingly solid group and a united locker room. We work well together and there is harmony, while the quality level seems very high.

“I have faith for the future. This is an important project and the team has won me over, not to mention the city. Each day I am more surprised by the passion of the fans. I’ve never seen anything like it.”

The Giallorossi have had to make changes with captain Totti’s thigh injury dragging on for several weeks now.

“Totti is an exceptional teacher, as it’s incredible to be training and playing with him. He is a leader, which I knew, but also different to the others. His football is joy.”

Roma are currently in seventh place in Serie A thanks to four wins, two draws and four defeats.

“In my view, we can finish in the top three this season,” continued Pjanic. “In Italy we consider Milan to be the favourites for the title, but Roma are in there too.

“It’s a long season and we will have a great campaign. Also watch out for Juventus” data-scaytid=”61″>Juventus and Napoli, who really impressed me.”
