Juventus ace Andrea Pirlo has confirmed he will continue his international career with Italy.

The 35-year-old had intended to retire from the Azzurri after the World Cup Finals, but he’s been convinced to play on by new CT Antonio Conte – his former boss in Turin.

“I have spoken with Conte,” the former Milan man, 12 goals in 99 caps, commented. “I have given my OK with regards to the national side.”

Conte, who has replaced Cesare Prandelli, began his Azzurri stint with a 2-0 friendly win over Holland last week.

“I liked the look of the team,” Pirlo, currently injured, added. “You can already see the work of the tactician.”

Turning to club matters, Pirlo spoke about the possibility of a fourth straight Scudetto and the difficulties of the Champions League.

“I fear Roma when it comes to the Serie A title,” he added. “And, in Europe, we certainly have to do better than we have in previous campaigns.”
