Andrea Pirlo has agreed to take charge of Juventus’ Under-23 team, with a view to possibly becoming first-team coach one day.
Sky Sport Italia and Fabrizio Romano both report the appointment is done and that Pirlo will be assisted by Napoli Primavera coach Roberto Baronio.
Baronio came up with the former Milan midfielder as they won the European U21 Championship with Italy in 2000 and played at that year’s Summer Olympics together.

Pirlo will replace Fabio Pecchia, who led Juve U23s to the Coppa Italia Serie C but failed to win promotion to Serie B in 2019-20.
Romano goes into further detail, claiming Andrea Agnelli’s ‘secret belief’ is for the 41-year-old to eventually become coach of the first team, emulating the likes of Pep Guardiola and Zinedine Zidane at Barcelona and Real Madrid.
The World Cup winner hung up his boots in 2017 while playing for MLS side New York City FC.
He went on to work as a pundit for Sky Sport Italia but, in the meantime, studied his coaching badges.
