Spezia are preparing to replace Thiago Motta and the list of possible candidates include Andrea Pirlo and Filippo Inzaghi.

The Ligurian side currently sit 16th in the Serie A table and seem likely to avoid the drop to Serie B this season, sitting five points ahead of 17th place Cagliari. Coach Motta has done a good job avoiding a relegation battle, but his work has not exactly been impressive, picking up only 0.94 points per match in the league.

As reported by Sky Sports Italia, Spezia are considering dismissing Motta in the summer in order to bring in a replacement. Their current ideas for now include Inzaghi, who was most recently in charge of Brescia, and Andrea Pirlo, who was dismissed by Juventus last year.

Both coaches are hoping to restore their stock in Serie A following disappointing final seasons in the topflight, although this season Massimiliano Allegri did fail to improve upon Pirlo’s final results in Turin.
