Pippo Inzaghi dedicated the victory over Roma to Bologna fans who cheered them on throughout their crisis. “I didn’t expect it.”

The Rossoblu had one point and not a single goal from their opening four Serie A rounds, yet ultras flocked to the training ground to encourage them on Saturday and were out in numbers at the Stadio Dall’Ara for today’s 2-0 victory.

“The fans have been simply extraordinary,” Inzaghi told Sky Sport Italia.

“I’ve found an atmosphere that I frankly didn’t expect. Even when we had such bad results, the fans would stop be in the street and thank me. I didn’t know what I’d done to warrant such affection, so this victory is dedicated to them.

“We put in the perfect performance and the lads showed a lot of quality. It was also such a revamp, as Arturo Calabresi was making his Serie A debut, while it was Adam Nagy’s first start of the season.

“It’s a win that makes me proud, but I know we’ve got to have the same attitude against Juventus on Wednesday.”
