Milan’s win over Sampdoria yesterday was bittersweet as Rafael Leao was sent off, forcing Stefano Pioli to come up with a new plan for the next two games.

The Milanese club did take home all three points after an edgy clash in Liguria, but the red card to Leao is clearly problematic as the team prepare to face a Luciano Spalletti side who could be Scudetto contenders this season. Milan also know the importance of beating Dinamo Zagreb beforehand, needing a good result after drawing with RB Salzburg in their opener.

As highlighted by Calciomercato.com, Pioli has started to develop a plan for the two vital games facing Milan, starting with the Champions League clash against Dinamo Zagreb. Against the Croatian side, the Rossoneri coach will likely deploy Olivier Giroud up front again, with Alexis Saelemaekers and Rafael Leao playing alongside him with Brahim Diaz in support.

Heading into next weekend’s game, Pioli is hoping to recover Divock Origi in order to give the veteran Frenchman a slight rest. The Belgian may be placed up front in a 3-5-2 system, with Theo Hernandez playing higher up the pitch to replace the suspended Leao, and Sergino Dest playing on the opposite side. The backline may consist of Simon Kjaer, Fikayo Tomori and Pierre Kalulu, an untested defensive trio.

Ante Rebic is unlikely to recover from his back issue in time for these two games, limiting Pioli’s options.

  1. We don’t need 3-5-2 because it will spoil our tactics inter are suffering from it so it not the best so 4-2-3-1 is the best and we canwin with it
