The Viola currently sit ninth in Serie A, but seventh will be good enough for a European place if Milan qualify through their League position and beat Juventus to win the Coppa Italia.

“The next three weeks will be decisive,” Pioli admitted in his Press conference ahead of the Crotone game.

“In the last games there will be motivation and ambition for the table, but these three games will determine everything.

“We have a balanced fixture list, it’s not easy but it’s also not impossible. Crotone and Spal, who are both playing for their survival, are not easy opponents.

“I really believe in my team and the work we’ve done since July 4. It [Europe] was something unexpected at the beginning, but we have to take it one game at a time.

“We can’t do anything else, so tomorrow is the most important game.”

Pioli met with Fiorentina legend Gabriel Batistuta this week, and he was also asked about that.

“It was a pleasure to meet him again after a long time. I found him in great form, he was as sharp and nice as I remembered.

“It was also nice for the team to see him, and I invited him to come back more often. He can make them understand even more what the Fiorentina shirt means.”
