Vladimir Petkovic is trying to focus Lazio on tonight’s game with Udinese, warning not to “throw fuel on the fire” of their Coppa Italia Derby Final.
The Biancocelesti will face arch rivals Roma in the Coppa Italia Final next month, but first must try to qualify for Europe via their Serie A position.
This evening they visit the Stadio Friuli against an Udinese side that also wants to get back into the race for the Europa League spots. Click here for a match preview.
“We will certainly be taking on a team that is hungry for victory, as Udinese are one of the form teams right now,” said Petkovic.
“We must put in a great deal of determination and sporting aggression, as we really have to fight for the result.
“Francesco Guidolin is not just a good tactician, but also a good Coach, seeing as every year he manages to form real players.
“There’s no point making calculations on the European places. We have to win this game and that’s all there is to it.”
It might be difficult to keep Lazio concentrated, as the upcoming Coppa Italia Final against Roma has been dominating the city’s thoughts.
“I have always tried to set the example by not leaving space for controversy or pour fuel on the fire. It is right to calm all situations down, not just the Derby. We have other priorities before then and must concentrate on Udinese.”
