The Gazzetta dello Sport are claiming that Giovanni Stroppa will replace boss Zdenek Zeman at newly promoted Pescara.

The Serie B champions have been looking for a new tactician after Zeman joined former club Roma this week.

Pescara had spoken to Gian Piero Gasperini, Delio Rossi and Ciro Ferrara, but they have reportedly opted for Stroppa. Gianfranco Zola was also in the frame.

The 44-year-old Stroppa is a former Italian international who played for Foggia, under Zeman, and Milan.

Stroppa started his coaching career in the youth sector at Milan and moved to Lega Pro outfit Sudtirol-Alto Adige last summer.

The tactician likes to use a Zeman-style 4-3-3 system and he should put pen to paper on a one-year contract.
