“All of this is thanks to Genoa. It’s an important step for me to be here.

“I’d been in talks 15 days before, and then it stretched-on. When I finished the game against Fiorentina I didn’t know about the transfer, and didn’t have any clothes packed.”

“I found out after the game.”

The quick turnaround meant Perotti played two games in 48 hours.

“I was a little tired, but the desire to play and do well gave me what I was missing because of fatigue.

“I couldn’t say no, I didn’t play 90 minutes for Genoa, that half hour that I played gave me the energy to play 90 minutes for Roma. The fact I played gives me confidence.

“When you come to a new team, you just want to play. Playing from the start was an honour. I want to play as much as possible, but it’ll be difficult.”
