Ivan Perisic expects Tottenham to show their quality in the second leg of their Champions League Round of 16 clash with Milan.

The Rossoneri secured an important 1-0 win over Spurs at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on Tuesday, with Brahim Diaz’s diving header in the 7th minute of the match proving enough to find the victory in front of a sell-out San Siro crowd.

Considering the poor recent form of both teams, Milan’s win also has intangible benefits for the team’s confidence, putting them on the front foot for the second leg at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Speaking to Sky Sports Italia, Perisic first reflected on what went wrong against Milan and how Tottenham will respond in the second leg.

“We knew it would be a tough game, in front of 80,000 people. Milan did well, but the second leg in London will be completely different. We didn’t show our value, we lacked something in the final third.”

The Croatian wing back then spoke about coach Antonio Conte, who defied doctors’ orders to be on the touchline for the Champions League clash. Perisic won the Scudetto at Inter with Conte in the 2020-21 season.

“Everyone knows how he works. He was strong as a player and now he is strong as a coach. I learned a lot from him, we won the Scudetto, something fantastic that I will never forget.

“Now we have many games in the Premier League, we will give everything to try to win as many as possible.”
